PRIME MINISTER ANNOUNCES ENQUIRY INTO THE EFFICIENCY OF OUR MARITIME LOGISTICS INDUSTRY
“Ports are the gateway for our economy. Inefficient ports are a tax on all of us,” - Prime Minister, Scott Morrison.
On Tuesday, 30th or November 2021, In an effort to help save Australian economy from global challenges of recent times, Prime Minister Scott Morrison calls for a 6 months Productivity Commission inquiry which is expected to be complete by mid of 2022.
This is to breakdown challenges the system had to endure in this trying times which relates to competition, industrial relations, infrastructure constraints and technology uptake which result to unpredictable and sporadic fluctuation, increased market pressure on shipping rates and significant delays in almost all major international ports.
This drive for development was supported by Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA) and the Australian Peak Shippers Association (APSA) to stimulate commercial opportunities to complement existing trade modernisation initiatives by taking opportunity for an independent review that focuses on all aspects of the international shipping and logistics sector.
